Pigeon River Provincial Park.

Pigeon River and LaVerendrye Provincial Parks and the southeast portion of Quetico Provincial Park have been designated as a Canadian Heritage River.

The Canadian Heritage Rivers system is a cooperative program developed and run by the park's administrations of the territorial, provincial and the federal governments to give national recognition to the important rivers of Canada.

The purpose of the program is to protect rivers which are outstanding examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage as well as offering outstanding recreational opportunities.

The Boundary Waters ~ Voyageur Waterway was a major travel corridor for the Voyageurs as they opened up the west.

Today it offers many recreational experiences such as camping, canoeing and fishing.
